I am beyond excited for the eclipse today! Not only have I always wanted to see a total eclipse (alas, I am not in the area of totality, but I will get to see a partial one) but my upcoming book Prince of the Sun, Princess of the Moon features a solar eclipse as a plot point. It's too good a chance to pass up, so I'm going to be sharing my experience with the eclipse on my blog and maybe share an excerpt of the book. I don't have a release date yet, but I hope to be able to announce that soon.
I've also been up to quite a bit in my down time. I've been crocheting up a massive project that I may post here. And I've been working on a book for my mom's church. Plus, a short story of mine is going to appear in the upcoming anthology Extinct! I can't wait to give you all the details.
Until later,
Michelay

Announcement Day (Launch Party!!)
It’s today! It’s today! Announcement day! I’m so excited! So, you know how I said Rise to Power would be the last Silver Foxes finale? Yeah, so . . . I thought the Rise to Power trilogy was the end. I did. But then I was walking along thinking about the series, and I realized I had one more story to tell: Skitter’s. I never concluded his story. So, now I have. Here’s the description. Nothing pleases Skitter more than sitting in his Macaya tree, talking to Kadaiel, and spending time with his little brother, Yori . . . except maybe receiving a letter from his best friend, Kathra, the girl he secretly wishes was more than a friend. But when Yori falls ill and needs surgery which cannot be performed on Kasate, Skitter must take his beloved brother across the ocean to find the Healer Kadaiel has chosen to save him. Can Skitter find her in time? Or will he lose his little brother forever? It will release on April 7, 2024, and preorders are available now.
The Art of Silver Foxes
Over the years I’ve been writing the Silver Foxes series, the art has changed. Today, I want to go through the book covers and tell you a little bit about them. Silver Foxes: When Taz (formerly Tazi-san or RisenArt on dA) drew this picture of Max, I knew I wanted this as the cover of the first book, if I ever published it. So when I decided to release it, I used it (with permission, of course). The first version of the book looked a bit different: That’s because I thought Lulu (the platform I used back then) had a size limit for the cover file. This was the only way I could use Taz’s art and keep the file size small. When I revamped and re-released it, I changed it to the cover I have now. Winds of Change: Taz had the idea to make the lineart of this pic “silver” by inverting the colors—black background and white line art. I can’t remember why she couldn’t do it at the time, but I did what she suggested. I didn’t turn out so well. She tried to fix it, but .
Things I Love about the Silver Foxes Characters
Last week I posted about Silver Foxes at large, and this week I want to briefly discuss what I love about the characters in the series. To be clear, these characteristics aren’t necessarily good things, but they are what makes them interesting to me. By all means, should you think of something you like (or hate) about the characters, let me know in the comments below. Here we go: Xena: (Pic by Taz Hall) I love how open and accepting she is. She has never let anything steal her compassion. Kathra (R): (pic by me) I love that she learned from what she and Xena went through. She how everyone shunning her sister (and even participated in it to a certain extent) and realized how much it hurt her. Since then, she never let anyone put down anyone else because of who they are. J.R. (above): (pic by Taz Hall) I love how strong and overprotective he is. Max: (pic by Taz Hall) I love how smart, tactical, and charismatic he is. He can finagle his way into just about
